Shea Anderson’s sobriety date is February 27th 2018. She started dancing at the age of four and started using at 13. Anderson struggled in active addiction for just over 10 years until she finally surrendered and admitted to herself that she was an addict and knew she couldn’t keep on with that life or it would kill her. She is diagnosed with anxiety disorder, depression and PTSD.
“I’d be lying if I said these 18 months have been easy. Recovery is hard work but everything that I’ve done until today has made for a better future. I am grateful for Addictions Foundation Manitoba women’s program, St. Raphael’s Wellness Center and the fellowship of which I am a member of because they gave me the stepping stones to begin and continue on my new journey. Today I am proud to say that I am a recovering addict and I am not ashamed of my mental health diagnosis,” she says.
